Autogenic Meditation
Auto means self and genic means within the body.
Autogenic meditation is based on autogenic training, a relaxation technique developed by a German scientist named Johannes Schultz, in the year n1932. This technique involves daily practice sessions of about 15 minutes, usually in the morning, lunchtime or evening. During each session, the practitioner repeats a set of visualizations inducing a state of relaxation. Autogenic imaging acts like the disc defragmentation process of the computer- helping in optimizing and getting out the best performance of the brain. Every session of the autogenic training can be practiced in a set of recommended postures, like lying down or sitting in meditative position or so on. Autogenic meditation is used to relieve many stress induced psychosomatic disorders.
Autogenic Practice and Session
Autogenic training session is generally done under the guidance of a therapist. Autogenic therapy is a self healing, self balancing process. It involves simple postures, basic and simple mental exercises and the process allows one to enter one's natural self healing at one's awn will. The core of autogenic training is formed by six standard exercises. One helps oneself into a state of passive awareness, concentration and acceptance. The six exercises then focus on the various body systems and induce an overall sense of peace. The autogenic training affects the autonomic nervous system and restores a balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system. One needs to keep an account of one's autogenic journey and try out enjoyable biofeedback techniques.
Benefits of Autogenic Meditation
Autogenic meditation is a very effective and powerful method for relaxation. Autogenic techniques put the body in a rest, recuperation and repair mode, allowing the body and mind to do the natural healing work. Many stress related conditions and disorders can be corrected by using autogenic methods involving a mix of self hypnosis, progressive muscle relaxation, initially with the help of a trainer and can be practiced later on by one's own self. This method of autogenic meditation has been scientifically proven to be extremely beneficial in chronic disorders of diabetes, glaucoma, myocardial infarction and alcohol and drug abuse etc. So it can be summarized by saying that autogenic meditation helps one find that magic pill in one's own body and thus allows one to get solutions to all the problems from within.
